West Glamorgan Regional Partnership has received Short Break Funding to increase opportunities for unpaid adult carers to takea break from their caring responsibilities. Unpaid adult carers living in Neath Port Talbot and Swansea can apply for an Adult Unpaid Carers Short Break grant of up to £300.
Unpaid adult carers can apply for funding to pay for an activity or a service that provides a short break from the caring role. Examples of this might include:
Day trips
Overnight stays
A sitting service
A pass for the gym or an exercise class
Well-being activities.
The Short Break Grant Scheme is funded by public money and may be audited independently. Your application and any subsequent verification provided may be included and scrutinised as part of any audit process. Submitting false, inaccurate, ormisleading information on an application form to obtain grant funding is unlawful, and we may decide to take criminal action if you knowingly give false information.
WHAT IS AN UNPAID CARER?
An unpaid carer is a person who provides or intends to provide care for an adult, or disabled child. This could be caring for a friend or family member who
due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All unpaid adult carers living in Neath Port Talbot and Swansea can apply.
WHAT CAN I APPLY FOR?
You can apply for funding to pay for a service or activity that provides you with a short break from your caring role. Please be aware that you can only apply once.
HOW TO APPLY
The grant scheme for unpaid adult carers is administered by Neath Port Talbot Carers Service and Swansea Carers Centre. You can apply over the phone, via email or online. Staff can help answer any questions you might have about the scheme (contact details below):
