Carers Support Fund
The Carers Support Fund is funded by Welsh Government and delivered across every local authority in Wales.
Neath Port Talbot Carers Service is delighted to facilitate a part of this grant for carers in the Neath Port Talbot area.
Welsh Government allocated an initial overall budget of £4.5 million for the Carers Support Fund 2022-2025, with further investment of £1.5 million to run the programme for an extra year, until March 2026.
With this further funding, by March 2026, the Carers Support Fund will create and strengthen support services and provide financial aid to reduce the effects and impact of financial hardship for an additional 8,000 unpaid carers across Wales.
Carers Support Fund Aims
The main aims of the Carers Support Fund programme are to:
Increase the availability and accessibility of support services focused on income maximisation for unpaid carers.
Provide flexible and responsive cost of living advice and support for unpaid carers.
Provide direct financial support to carers who are facing financial hardship.
The Carers Support Fund programme aims to deliver the following outcomes for unpaid carers in Wales:
• Carers in financial hardship will be supported to address cost of living challenges.
• Carers will have increased opportunities to access financial support and advice.
• Carers mental wellbeing will be improved.
• Carers will be supported to maximise their income
As part of Carers Support Fund, Neath Port Talbot Carers Service will offer a range of direct grants to support unpaid carers experiencing financial hardship.
Examples of direct grants provided through the Carers Support Fund Wales programme include:
Food and supermarket vouchers: Assistance with buying groceries and basic needs
White goods/household items: Support for purchasing appliances and household essentials
IT equipment: Support for purchasing laptops, tablets, and mobile phones to help carers stay connected and access resources.
All the above grants will be provided in the form of vouchers.
